About Monticello Software |
|
Monticello Software Incorporated was founded as a Virginia corporation in February 1995. The company develops and markets high-end PC tools for mailing list management and direct marketing applications. The founders brought with them many years of experience in this niche market and are driven by an underlying belief that PCs will play an increasing role in mailing list processing as PC technology continues to lower the overall cost of computing. In December 1995 the Company introduced its first product, the Report Consolidation System, which allows users to track, audit, archive and report information related to complex, multi-step batch jobs. Operating in a Windows environment, the system is primarily used by mainframe and other large system processors in a networked configuration. Data processing professionals find the auditing, tracking and archiving functions to be the most useful, while marketing users typically value the reporting features. In September 1997 the Company introduced its second product, MAILdb, for working with Mail.dat files. Mail.dat is a data formatting standard rapidly being adopted industry-wide for communicating information related to the composition of mailings. Monticello's MAILdb system allows users to import, validate, view, edit, report and export information in the standard Mail.dat format. The system's ability to produce online USPS Qualification Reports can reduce the expense of printing and transporting the hard-copy reports, which can be quite lengthy. The system's powerful search and navigation features can also speed mail acceptance, particularly in Detached Mail Units (DMUs). As the USPS PostalOne! program revolutionizes postal acceptance and payment procedures beginning early in 1999, the need to manipulate Mail.dat files will become increasingly important to large mailers, service bureaus and letter shops. MAILdb is a 32-bit application and runs in a Windows environment. Monticello Software is structured as a "virtual corporation", with the three founding officers working from remote offices in Virginia, Maryland and Florida. The company's extensive use of Internet capabilities, including its Web site at www.montsoft.com, allows for instant communications between locations while minimizing overhead expenses. The Web site is also used for software distribution, which speeds the delivery of enhancements and bug fixes to Monticello's customers. The Company is confident that this structure can continue to work successfully well into the future. Future plans include development of additional PC tools for mailing list management and direct marketing applications. Communications should be directed to:
